Spring – Time for Ecology,Biology &Geographical Days Out

Longer days and a perceptible shift in the natural world, tells us that Spring has definitely arrived. In the Barrow valley the woods are beginning to wake up and the forest floor is teeming with a vibrant wild life from beetles to slugs, worms to small mammals.  Life is getting interesting down here.

Better weather means we can get our more and we are delighted at Blackstairs Ecotrails with our new web site which makes it easier for schools to book a day out with us.We are currently running ecology and  biology support days and Geographical investigations to help schools with suitable locations for their field work.

We are well situated her in South Carlow, close to the M9 and with  easy access from Waterford, Wexford, Tipperary and Offaly. Dublin and Wicklow  are also within easy driving distance.

We can offer a great day out for schools. Half days, whole days or blocks of time that suit the individual school can be accommodated.  We have a choice of locations; Foothills of the Blackstairs, Barrow Valley with old woods and fine rives and we are situated in an Area of Special Conservation and a Natural Heritage Area..

Our local  town Borris is a classic estate town with fine  architecture,
